    Which is the Concentric Phase of the Lat Pull Down Exercise? A. Weight Stack Moves Down B. The Bar Moves Down C. The Bar Moves Up D. The Pause at the Top Understanding the Concentric and Eccentric phases of movement can be tricky. It is more confusing when there is a Pulley system involved. The rule is: The Concentric Phase of a Movement = The Lifting Phase, whereby the load goes towards the Clouds against gravity (c for concentric, c for clouds). Note, the load is your own body weight in a press-up, or the dumbbell in a bicep curl, or the weight stack on a Lat Pull Down machine. The Eccentric Phase of a Movement = The Lowering Phase, whereby the load goes towards the Earth with gravity (e for eccentric, e for earth). Note, this phase feels easier, because we are no longer pushing the load against the force of gravity, instead gravity is helping the lowering phase. In the context of the Lat Pull Down exercise, although you are pulling the bar down to the chest... crucially ther weight stack is moving UP towards the ceiling. If there was no pulley machine, and the client did the exact same action with dumbells this works the deltoids instead of the Lats. The deltoids and lats are antagonist pairs and function in opposing actions Therefore, based on the given options, the correct answer remains B "The Bar Moves Down," Bonus points if you can explain the joint actions happening in the concentric phase You can join our inner circle and download tons of FREE MOCK Questions here: join.parallelcoaching.co.uk/fitness-exam-mock-questions Pass your exam with confidence using our Revision Bootcamps: courses.parallelcoaching.co.uk/products/revision-bootcamps Dedicated to more 🙂 #DailyMockQuestion #Exam #MockQuestion #AnatomyRevision #AnatomyQuiz #anatomystudy #revision #examrevision

    Hi! Can i check for this classic example that you shared! whn biceps contracts (concentric). And triceps relaxes (is the tricep in eccentric? Since is lengthening. or is it just relax, not doing anything). I am alwys confused with this. I tot the triceps relaxes means not eccentrically contracting, even though the muscles lengthens

    • @Parallelcoaching
      @Parallelcoaching 29 дней назад

      The tricep is totally relaxed, it is no eccentrically contracted. Take a bicep curl, when you lift the dumbbell the bicep concentrically contracts (gets shorter under load) when you lower the dumbbell the bicep eccentrically contracts (gets longer under load) The tricep is not working throughout the whole action it stays relaxed. What is Reciprocal Inhibition? Reciprocal Inhibition is a fundamental concept where when one muscle (the Agonist) contracts, the opposing muscle (the Antagonist) relaxes. This ensures smooth and efficient movement. Understanding this helps in programming workouts and improving client sessions. Although it's challenging, mastering this concept is crucial for fitness professionals. 💪Muscles Work in Pairs:Agonist (contracts) and Antagonist (relaxes). 💪Occurs in All Contractions: Concentric, Eccentric, and Isometric. For Example: During a bicep curl, the biceps contract while the triceps relax. 🔑 Why It Matters: - Enhances movement mechanics understanding. - Essential for effective session planning. - Expect 3 to 6 exam questions on this topic. Write RI in the comments below and I'll send you a 6-minute tutorial to learn more! 🎥 #Fitness #PersonalTraining #ReciprocalInhibition #WorkoutScience #FitnessEducation #anatomyrevision #anatomyexam #anatomyandphysiology #muscles

    Stop Using Anatomical Heart Models to Learn the Blood Flow Around the Circulatory System ❤️ Understanding the blood flow can be simpler than you think! In a nutshell, this is the route that blood follows: - Capillaries in the lungs - Pulmonary vein - Left atrium - Left ventricle - Aorta - Arteries - Arterioles - Capillaries - Organs, muscles, and tissues of the body - Capillaries - Venules - Veins - Vena cava - Right atrium - Right ventricle - Pulmonary artery - Capillaries in the lungs That's a lot of steps to remember. Having a simplified method of learning the circulatory system and blood flow will certainly aid memory. We use a simplified square heart to show the four chambers, and a simplified route where you can follow all of the above steps easily. You can draw this version in your notes inside just 60seconds. Comment "HEART" and I'll send you a simplified training to learn everything you need to know about the heart! Three crucial steps every fitness professional should use when working with clients experiencing low back pain... First of all Follow @ParallelCoaching for more helpful videos like this Then Like and Share with a friend if this has been helpful for you 1️⃣ Assess Pain and Screen for Red Flags: Use subjective questionnaires to understand the pain and screen for red flags, like symptoms of cauda equina syndrome. If red flags are present, refer them to a medical professional for further evaluation. 2️⃣ Perform Objective Functional Tests: Use tests like the squat assessment to find movement limitations, compensations, and muscle imbalances. This helps tailor exercise programs by identifying areas for strengthening and stretching. 3️⃣Adhere to Contraindicated Exercises Guidelines: Follow guidelines for exercises unsuitable for low back pain. These include: 🚫 Avoid excessive spinal flexion and high-impact activities. 🚫 Stress the importance of good core engagement. 🚫 Consider muscle imbalances and compensations. 🚫 Encourage staying active throughout the day 🚫 Never exercising through pain. 🚫 Be cautious with clients on pain medications, as reduced sensations may lead to overexertion. These steps ensure safe and personalized exercise programs for clients with low back pain, promoting recovery and preventing the worsening of symptoms. This is why it's crucial for fitness professionals to be qualified in exercise referral or the new long-term conditions diploma. These courses cover everything you need to know about long-term health conditions, including back pain, so you can work with them safely. Write the word BACKPAIN below if you'd like to become qualified to work with PT clients that have low back pain #LowBackPain #Pain #LongTermConditions #ExerciseReferral #FITPRO #PersonalTrainer #FitnessProfessional #GPReferral #SpecialistInstructor #PainRelief
